Kolkata: Ahead of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today (Thursday) kicked off the final phase of the Change Rath Yatra in West Bengal. Addressing a rally organized by the party in South 24 Pragana district on the occasion, Amit Shah said that if the BJP wins the upcoming elections in the state, the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission in the state will be implemented and 33 per cent of the seats will be reserved for women. Promising to turn West Bengal into a ‘golden bungalow’, Home Minister Amit Shah said the party’s aim was not to improve the situation in the state and to overthrow the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government. If the BJP government comes to power in West Bengal, it will provide more than 33 per cent protection to women, implement the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission and investigate corruption in the distribution of wind power amphibian relief funds. “The struggle is now between our booth workers and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) syndicate,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said the party’s goal was not to replace Mamata Banerjee and bring the BJP to power, but to ensure a change in the situation in West Bengal. “Our goal is to ensure a change in the situation in West Bengal, a change in the situation of the poor in the state, a change in the situation of women in the state,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
