New Delhi: The central government has allowed states to spend up to 50 per cent of the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRFF) to fight the Karona epidemic. The money can be used by state governments to run quarantine centers, test laboratories, install oxygen collection plants, and buy ventilators and PPE kits. Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with the chief ministers of the four most affected states in the country, and today the central government has taken such a decision to strengthen the infrastructure of corona treatment in the country. The Union Home Ministry has sent a letter to the chief secretaries of all states and territories. It states that some of the amendments to the SDR4F4 Funds Act have been amended.
Up to 50 percent of the money for the 2012-21 fiscal year is allowed to be spent on dealing with the corona epidemic. The state-level executive committee, chaired by the chief minister, will look into the matter. The committee will look into how to prevent duplication of the scheme, along with other government schemes.9 The state will bear its own resources that will spend more than the prescribed 50 per cent limit on its own resources. No fee will be charged from SDR4F4 for this. Most of the money from the State Disaster Relief Fund comes from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRFF).
