Mumbai: The BJP in Maharashtra has been hit hard. In Maharashtra, the BJP won only one seat in the four-member assembly. The ruling Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance and the MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) won four seats, while one independent candidate won the other. However, Shiv Sena’s allies won four seats, but did not win a single seat. Shiv Sena’s only candidate lost the election in Amaravati. The BJP has won only by-elections in the Dhule-Nandurbar constituency. The BJP has also lost in areas previously occupied by the BJP. The BJP’s biggest defeat is the Nagpur constituency. Now it is in the hands of Congress. The Nagpur constituency was previously represented by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Gadkari first won the election here on the 19th. He had won Nagpur four times before contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In Pune, too, the BJP campaigned vigorously. But the BJP’s math is wrong. Sharad Pawar’s NCP has won elections from Aurangabad and Pune Graduates constituencies. Last Tuesday’s election was a matter of honor for both the BJP and the MVVA. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnabi said the party had made a mistake in understanding the combined strength of the MBA.
