New Delhi: No decision has been taken to stop the printing of 2,000 rupee notes, Finance Minister Anurag Thakur told the Lok Sabha. The decision on which notes to print will be made after consultation with the Reserve Bank. The notes are printed according to the needs of the market. He said no allocation had been made for the printing of 2,000 new banknotes in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
