New Delhi: The Union government today announced a bonus for employees. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the issuance of the Producer-Based Bonus (PL4B) for the 2019-20 fiscal. It will benefit 18.4 lakh unskilled workers working in the Railways, Postal, Defense, EPF4O, ESGIC and other sectors. It will cost Rs 291 crore to give them bonuses. Similarly, non-productive or ad hoc bonuses will also be given to 13.60 lakh non-Gazetted employees. The government will also have to bear the additional cost of Rs 4 crore. A total of 30.4 lakh employees will get the bonus. The government will have to spend an additional Rs 3,734 crore. In previous years, unpaid bonuses were usually paid to unpaid employees for their performance. The government has announced immediate bonuses for both producers and non-Gazette employees.
