New Delhi / Bhubaneswar: The collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state increased by 21.6 per cent on October 4. This year, the GST of Rs 2,918 crore has been collected. In 2016, the state collected Rs 18 crore in GST. According to the Odisha government’s Trade Tax and GST Commissionerate, the GST collection in the state is positive for the second consecutive month. In October, the state received Rs 40.83 crore for the IGST decision. Between April and October this year, the state’s GST collection of Rs 4,306.26 crore was down, which is 4.6 per cent less than the Rs 4.34 crore collected during the same period last year. At the same time, the total GST collection was Rs 17,601 crore, up from Rs 16,060 crore last year. In September and October this year, the state collected Rs 4.25 crore and Rs 516.26 crore in VAT on petroleum products, respectively. At the national level, the GST collection has increased to more than Rs 1 lakh crore after a long eight months. In October this year, the country collected Rs 1,05,155 crore, which is 10 per cent more than last year’s Rs 45,38 crore. According to the Central Government, for the first time since last February, the monthly GST collection has exceeded Rs 1 lakh crore. It is being viewed as a sign of recovery in the economy, which has been badly damaged by the corona epidemic. Compared to last year, GST was 18% less in July this year, 6% in August and 5% less in September. There has been a 10 percent increase in October. This means that since April last year, economic activity has been gradually improving and tax collection has also accelerated. In October, the central GST of Rs 14,183 crore, the state GST of Rs 25,611 crore and the integrated GST of Rs 52,590 crore were collected. Rs 23,365 crore was recovered from imported goods and Rs 4,011 crore in cess. Rs 432 crore has been recovered from imports alone. As a regular decision, the central government has decided Rs 25,041 crore on central GS6 and Rs 17,829 crore on state and integrated GS6. After regular decision-making, the revenue of the states was Rs 6,938 crore and the revenue of the Center was Rs 6,285 crore. In October, 7 million GS4TR4-3B returns were filed.
