Balasore: The results of the Balasore Sadar by-election will come on October 10. There has been speculation as to who will go to the polls. At a time like this, the BJP has taken a big step today. Former Balasore MLA Jeevan Pradeep Das has been suspended from his post of primary member on charges of anti-party activities. As a result, the political climate is tense again. During the BJD-BJP coalition government in 2009, Jeevanpradeep Das contested from Balasore Sadar constituency on a BJP ticket and was elected MLA for the first time. He was re-elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2004 and 2014 from the Biju Janata Dal. But in the 2014 general election, he lost to BJP’s Madan Mohan Dutt. However, within a year and a half of becoming MLA, Madan Mohan’s untimely resignation paved the way for by-elections. Mr. Das was once again hopeful of the BJP. Meanwhile, former MP and BJD district president Rabindra Jena and his wife Subhasini Jena also came out as key contenders. As a result, the Cold War between the two began. The dispute was later resolved with the intervention of the party’s state leader, and Swarup Das, a former councilor of Balasore municipality, was nominated for the by-elections. With the by-elections on March 3, the sudden suspension of Das from the party has sparked controversy in the political arena.
