NEW DELHI: Bihar’s main opposition RJD and its allies on Wednesday criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for appointing Mewalal Chowdhury of the JD (U), who had earlier been expelled from the party on charges of corruption, as his education minister. They also demanded that he be expelled. RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav said Chowdhury, a former chancellor and first minister of an agricultural university, was facing a number of deadly charges, including fraud and dishonesty under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code and criminal conspiracy under Section 120 B. Has Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Mewalal Chowdhury rewarded and looted freedom for corruption? Chowdhury, 7, was expelled from the Nitish Kumar-led JD (U) in 2014 after an FIR was filed against him over allegations of irregularities in his appointment while he was the chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University in Sabhar under Bhagalpur district.
