Balangir / Belpada: A father burns a girl born to his own race. An unfortunate incident took place in Debripali village under Belpada police station in Balangir district. The village’s unarmed snake has been accused of pouring petrol on the body of his minor daughter Suryakanti Nag and attempting to burn it to death. Suryakanti was rushed to Belpada Hospital and later to Bhimbhoi Medical College Hospital in Balangir in critical condition by neighbors. He has been shifted to Burla General Hospital and from there to Cuttack Hospital as his condition is critical. The girl’s uncle said her father was unprotected. Meanwhile, Belpada police are detaining and questioning the unarmed. Unprotected, she fell in love with a young woman in the village about 20 years ago. He had a daughter. Later, due to a disagreement between the two, Arakshit’s wife stayed at her father’s house. He remarried another young woman. He also has a son and a daughter. A few months later, the society decided to keep Suryakanti, the daughter of his first wife, safe. But when his daughter went to Arakshit’s house, Arakshit’s second wife disliked it. His uncle’s family alleges that Suryakanti’s body was set on fire at around 2.30pm on Sunday night. Hearing the girl’s mouth, the neighbors rescued her and brought her to the hospital. Police are investigating.
