New Delhi: Newly elected US President Joe Biden may soon be shocked by India, especially Chennai. On behalf of his Democratic Party, Chennai-born Kamala Harris has won the election as the U.S. Vice Presidential candidate. Biden and Kamala will be sworn in as president and vice president in January 2020, respectively. Now he has begun announcing the names of his cabinet aides. At the same time, Indra Nui, a Chennai-born and former CEO of PepsiCo, is likely to become the US Secretary of Commerce. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang’s intervention. After a long 12-year tenure as CEO of PepsiCo, Nui retired in 2016. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the US e-commerce company Amazon9. After graduating with a degree in management from Calcutta, I went to Yale University in 1918 for higher education. His career at PepsiC began in the 19th century. Joining as chief strategist, Nui was appointed CEO of the company in 2009. During his tenure, PepsiCo made significant progress. Nui has opposed Donald Trump’s H-1B visa policy in the past. He was one of 58 U.S. CEOs who wrote a letter to Trump stating that the United States would have to pay a high price. Despite being a staunch fan of Hillary Clinton, she also had a good relationship with Trump’s family. Ivanka Trump made a tweet while retiring from Noi Pepsi. Ivanka wrote in the tweet that Nui was an inspiration to her. Biden, however, felicitated Biden Nui as Vice President at a function organized by the Business Council of India.
