Balangir: The peasant movement has reached its climax in Punjab and Haryana. The Center is cheating farmers by telling one lie after another. The state government has also been lying to farmers. “Besarmi ki bi koi hadu hoti hei,” Balangir MLA Narasimha Mishra said at a press conference at the local circuit house on Monday. “As per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, farmers will get half the cost of harvest per quintal,” he said. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had promised to write to the people in the 2014 elections. But he later reneged on his promise. When the matter was referred to the Supreme Court, the Modi-led central government replied that it was not possible to implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee. He questioned why he had deceived farmers and countrymen with written promises if he had not paid the real price of his harvest.
