The funeral of the late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has ended in Baramati with hundreds of people in attendance. The Baramati Vidya Pratishthan area was packed to bid farewell to their beloved leader. Ajit Pawar’s two sons Jay and Partha performed all the funeral rites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reached the Vidya Pratishthan area of Baramati to attend the funeral. The people of Baramati bid farewell to Ajit Pawar, one of the heroes of Maharashtra politics, with the slogan ‘Ajit Dada Amar Reha’.
Passed away on Wednesday
Ajit Pawar passed away at the age of 66 in a plane crash on Wednesday morning. Captain Sumit Kapoor, First Officer Prospective Reader, Flight Attendant Pinky Mali and Ajit Pawar’s Personal Security Officer Vijit Jadhav, who were with him on the plane, also died. The last rites of the NCP chief will be performed with full state honours at the Vidya Patuhan, an educational institution founded by the Pawar family, on Thursday in the presence of party workers, locals, leaders, supporters and politicians. Ajit’s body was kept at his Katewadi residence for the last rites till 9 am. At 9.45 am, the body was taken to the Vidya Patuhan in a procession. Thousands of people gathered on both sides of the road to pay their last respects to their beloved leader.
