New Delhi: The government aims to make airbags mandatory for all types of new cars to further strengthen car security. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed making dual (two) airbags mandatory for new cars. As of April 1, 2021, all new cars in the country will have dual (dual) airbags for the front seats. It will protect the driver and the passenger on the driver’s side during the accident. The ministry sought public opinion on the proposal. Various stakeholders can comment on the proposal within the next one month. Airbag 6 has been made mandatory for all types of car driver seats from July 1, 2018. A statement from the ministry said, “Airbags are required under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act 4, 2018, AIS4. Now that only airbags are available for drivers, the lives of other passengers sitting in front are in danger. Starting with speed warning systems, reverse parking sensors and seat belts, the life-saving airbags are not yet mandatory. Due to the lack of dual airbags in the car, India is failing many popular cars in the global safety standard tests. ‌Some models ରେ also get zero rating. Some cars that have dual airbags are rated 4 stars. New Delhi: A proposal by the central government to make dual airbags mandatory for new cars has been welcomed by the Fada All India Association of Car Dealers. FADA president Vinkesh Gulati said the security measures were necessary to reach the highest standards in the world. The government’s goal is to protect the lives of citizens traveling by car. But as a result, the price of cars will definitely increase. Vehicle prices have risen sharply due to the implementation of the BS7-7 rule. He hopes that the companies will bear the brunt of the cost, as the dual airbags have been made mandatory. Because if the price of a car goes up, it will be very bad for the industry on a short-term basis. “The industry is still struggling with the effects of the Covida epidemic,” he said. Another estimate is that compulsory dual airbags will increase the price of a car to Rs 5,000-4,000. It will also be difficult for companies to add the required number of airbags in such a short time.
