Bhubaneswar: Campaigning for the two assembly constituencies of Odisha, Baleshwar and Tirthol, ended this evening. Voting in these two constituencies will take place on the 3rd of next month and will be counted on the 10th. After the campaign ended today, political party workers from outlying districts in both constituencies have been ordered to leave hotels, lodges and community centers, and the administration is investigating to ensure that. The state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has ordered tightening of checks at constituencies. Leaders of various parties from different parts of the state have also left their homes in Baileshwar and Tirthol for campaigning. Three video surveillance teams have been appointed for both constituencies, five in Balasore, four in Flying Squad in Tirthol, 58 in Balasore and 45 in Tirthol. So far, one criminal case has been registered in Balasore and two in Tirthol. The state’s chief electoral officer’s office said 326 licensed firearms had been seized in both constituencies. Thirty-six people have been detained under sections 108 and 119 of the Indian Penal Code. A non-bailable warrant has been issued against 410 people. Similarly, 11,205 liters of liquor were seized by a joint raid by the Abkhazian and police departments. It is estimated to cost Rs 18,27,225. A total of 52 police cases have been registered against various individuals or groups for violating the Code of Conduct and Covid’s Rules. 108 polling parties, or 1,800 polling stations, have been reserved. In Tirthol, a total of 383 polling parties, or 160 polling workers, have been sent to booths and 112 polling stations have been reserved. Asha activists have been appointed to oversee the co-ordinating rule in all booths in both constituencies. The same number of volunteers, along with 400 hopefuls, are expected to work on the instructions of the district’s Kovid Nodal Health Officer.
