Dubai: The fortunes of three-time Chennai Super Kings (CS4K) winners, who have won just two and lost five of their first four matches, have changed in the eighth match. The Sunrisers beat Hyderabad by 20 runs to avoid a relegation threat. Countless CS4 fans have smiled back at captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni after Tuesday’s much-anticipated victory. Under pressure from the senior team and controversial strategy, Chennai today lost four wickets in the allotted 20 overs for the late explosion of all-rounder Rabindra Jadeja, scoring an impressive 16 runs. In response, the Sunrisers struggled from start to finish in the 29th match of the ongoing IPL4. Ken Williamson’s impressive half-century of the team’s reliable batsman was also wasted. CS8K had their third win of the eighth match, while the Sunrisers had their fifth defeat of those eight matches. CS4K has now been upgraded from seventh to sixth. The Sunrisers, on the other hand, are in fifth place. The Sunrisers Hyderabad, who batted for a 16-run victory, lost to captain David Warner (7) and Manish Pandey (6) by just 24 runs. Johnny Bairstow, 23, also failed to score. Williamson (54, 38 balls, 4 fours), who came in fourth, did not give up the fight. He scored a half-century off 34 balls to give the Sunrisers hope. But after Karna Sharma caught him in the hands of Sardul Thakur, the Chennai victory was kind of assured. All that was left of the formalities. The Sunrisers, who lost wickets at regular intervals, were able to score four runs for the loss of seven wickets in the end. Jadeja was considered the best player of the match for his all-round performance. However, the failure of the initial pair remained unchanged. Toss-winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to bat today. However, Faf du Plessis was not able to open the account. Young starter Sam Karan, of course, scored a quick 31 runs. Sen Watson (42, 39 balls, 1 four, 3 sixes) and Ambati Rayudu (41, 38 balls, 3 fours, 2 sixes), who played in the third over, added 41 runs for the third wicket to improve the situation. However, the fact that the two were dismissed for seven reduced the Chennai run-scoring rate. All-rounder Dwayne Bravo (0) was another shock for the team with his clean ball in the second ball. Chennai Dhoni (13 * 21) and all-rounder Rabindra Jadeja (25 *, 10 balls, 3 fours, 1 six), who were once struggling to touch 150 runs, lost 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs for 18 runs.
