Bhubaneswar: Most districts of the state are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains in the next four hours, i.e. by Thursday afternoon, according to a warning issued by the Regional Meteorological Center. The monsoon is expected to be followed by a cyclone in West Bengal and its adjoining areas.
According to the information received, there is a high chance of rain and thunderstorms in many districts of the state in the next 24 hours, i.e. by Wednesday afternoon. However, heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Devgarh, Sundergarh, Anugul and Baleshwar districts during the period. Similarly, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Sambalpur and Bargarh districts are also likely to receive heavy rains. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Kandhamal, Boudh, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal districts. There is a high risk of thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall in the area. Sonpur, Sambalpur, Balangir and Bargarh districts are likely to receive heavy to moderate rainfall during the period, while Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi and Anugul districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued yellow warnings to all these districts for the next four hours.
