New Delhi: Internet service was launched in India on August 15, 1955. So the internet in India is already 25 years old. In the last 25 years, India has made significant strides in Internet connectivity. The number of internet connections in India has crossed a milestone of Rs 75 crore by August. However, the number of Internet connections has doubled in the last four years. According to TRAI, there are 38 crore Internet users in the country in March 2018, 62 crore in March 2018, 54 crore in September 2018 and 4 crore in August 2020. Most of the 4 crore Internet connections are in urban areas. Similarly, most wireless internet connections are available through 4 wireless devices such as mobile phones and dongles.
