MUMBAI: Mumbai residents have been repeatedly asked to wear masks in public places, but have been fined Rs 7.5 lakh a day from 23,000 people for violating them. He was fined around Rs 7.5 million from four people. A total of Rs 26 lakh was levied on 14,100 people on Sunday and Rs 32 lakh from Rs 16,159 on Saturday. Since March 2020, Mumbai residents have been arrested for not wearing 1.5 million masks and fined them Rs 30.5 crore. Those who are unable to pay the fines for not wearing masks have been put to work in community services, such as blocking the road. Violation of this will result in a fine of Rs 200.
