Banita Dash, daughter of professor Banavihari Dash from Gadbaguda, Nabarangpur, has been appointed as the ambassador of the Asteroid Search Campaign for the Space Education Foundation, on behalf of the Space Foundation India, affiliated with NASA. Banita is training school and college students in various parts of Odisha to participate in the Asteroid Search Campaign.
In the coming days, she is making plans to organize this program in tribal-dominated districts. For this, she has also written to the District Collector and District Education Officer.
Little Explorer’s Scope
On the 6th, Banita prepared a project named ‘Little Explorer’s Scope’ at the Design for India Youth Innovation Challenge-2026 program organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. The main objective of the project was to attract poor rural students to space science by making telescopes at very low cost. Banita participated in this and was awarded and highly praised.

Published Banita is the Prime Minister’s Award for Innovation in 2022 He received the National BAL Award. He has made the district proud at the state and national level. He is currently studying in the fourth semester of BTech in Electronics and Communication at Odisha University of Technology and Research (UTR), Bhubaneswar. Along with studying himself, he has been making school and college students aware about space.
