Considering privacy and financial considerations, the government has no proposal to print school, college and university question papers in government press, Commerce Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena has informed in response to a question asked in the Assembly.
Will the financial year and printing press provide the income and expenditure of the last 5 financial years of the 9 government printing houses in Odisha? Considering privacy and financial considerations, whether the government is taking steps to print school, college and university question papers in government press, the Commerce Minister gave this answer in response to a question asked by BJD MLA Amar Kumar Nayak.
The Minister said that the government printing house in Cuttack, which is operational under the Commerce and Transport Department of the Government of Odisha, along with 8 government branch printing houses, fulfills the printing needs of all government offices as a service provider of the government.
All the required forms, registers, receipt books etc. are printed as per the requirements of various departments of the Odisha Government and are supplied free of cost. In addition, as per the instructions of the Government, funds are collected for a few printing works and deposited in the Government treasury.
Funds are collected for some printing works at Cable Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Kendujhar printing houses. In other branch printing houses, only envelope and file board binding work is done. .
The Minister has given the details of the money collected from all the printing houses for gazette publications, diaries, calendars, standard forms, waste paper, scrap material etc. in the last 5 years. According to the information, the total income in 2019-20 was Rs 6,0829,000, while in 2020-21 the income was Rs 4,4469,000, and in 2021-22 the income was Rs 2,6237,000. Similarly, in 2022-23 the income was Rs 6,7604,000 and in 2023-24 the income was Rs 2,6143,000, the minister informed.
