Mumbai: The average annual income of a farming family in Odisha is Rs 62,72. The national average income is about Rs 14,000 less than Rs 1,09,182. The average annual income of farming families in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand and West Bengal is considerably higher than in Odisha. The average annual income of a Punjab farming family is Rs 2,54,56. Gujarat farming families also earn an average of Rs 221,000 a year. According to the SBI EcoRap report, there are 41 registered e-namis in Odisha and 19 businessmen and 41,525 farmers registered in the e-name. This means that 75 per cent of the farming families in the country are unaware of the MS4P system. 14% of farming families are aware of the government grain procurement agency. Eighty-three percent of farmers sell their produce in the open market. The data came from the 70th phase survey of NSSS4, according to the SBI ECorap report. The federal government has announced a minimum support price for 23 types of crops. But the government does not buy or intend to buy all kinds of crops. E-naming has been arranged to provide a large market to farmers. Of these, 1.6 crore farmers are registered. Eighty-five percent of them are from four states. The Food Corporation of India (FFDI) has not done enough to collect and manage food grains. As of July 1, 2020, the central government had 422 million tonnes of grain in the warehouse, which is almost double the target of 611 lakh tonnes. The Shanta Kumar Committee recommended that the remaining grains be sold or exported in the open market. But that did not apply. The FCCI has also failed to properly manage warehouse capacity. The SBI report also said that the amount of loans brought by the FFCI from the National Small Savings Scheme (GFSI) has also been reduced. The central government aims to increase the export of agricultural products to $ 6,000 crore by 2022. So far, 14 states have announced their agricultural export policies. Others are in various stages of formulating the policy, the report said.
