Sambalpur: The injured body of a youth was recovered from the Sunapali-Gangutipalli dam in Sambalpur district’s Dhanupali police station on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Afsar, 38, a resident of Motijharan. Officers have been charged with felony criminal mischief for firing on a sculpture with a shotgun. According to reliable sources, Dhanupali police have registered a murder case and are investigating the incident by Sunday evening. According to the information received, the deceased was living in Nepal in the Ministry of Emergency Situations and working in a garage. But for the past 15 days, he has been back home. Even after returning here, he was still working as a blacksmith, locals said. Family members told police he had no such enemies because he lived outside the office. The circumstances under which and who killed him are now shrouded in mystery. Police suspect the accused then killed the officer and threw him away. The officer’s naked body was found lying in the pond in Sunapali on Sunday when he left the house on Saturday afternoon and never returned.
