Bhubaneswar: The hotel industry, like other businesses, has suffered losses due to the shutdown due to the corona virus. The hotel industry in the state has lost Rs 2,500 crore this year. Dilip Roy, a prominent industrialist and politician, told the media that there were about 1,600 registered hotels in the state. All hotel owners have suffered losses due to the cut during the corona. The May Fair Group alone has paid Rs 100 crore. The unofficial process began in June. But the hotel business has not been open since the beginning of the year. The business has been in operation since October. The hotel is still 35 percent booked. Other tourist destinations like Bhubaneswar, Puri, Konark need to be promoted. 2020 has taught a lot in many ways. The hotel business is targeted to be compensated by 2021, Mr. Ray said.
