Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the much-awaited scrapbook policy in the budget. Under the policy, more than 15 years of commercial vehicles and more than 20 years of private vehicles will be removed from the road. This means that polluting vehicles and unsuitable vehicles will not be allowed on the road to protect the environment. That vehicle will be replaced with a new one. So this policy will be voluntary. “The Ministry of Road Transport will come up with a comprehensive policy,” he said in the budget. Vehicles will be declared unsuitable at the automated testing center. Customers involved in the policy, however, are expected to be encouraged by discounting on road taxes and other purchases when buying new vehicles.
