Maulana targets Shami for not fasting. Maulana, who lives in Bareilly, UP, is angry with Indian cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Shami. He said that Mohammed Shami did not fast or observe the fast during Ramzan. During the match against Australia, he was seen drinking juice/energy drink on the field. He did not fast knowingly, which is a sin. He is a criminal.
According to information, a video of Mohammed Shami drinking juice during the ICC Champions Trophy match played in Dubai came to light. Maulanas from Bareilly expressed their displeasure over this. All India Muslim Jamaat national president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi issued a statement saying, “Islam has declared fasting as obligatory. If a person deliberately does not observe the fast, then he is guilty. Mohammed Shami did not observe the fast even though it is his duty to observe the fast. By not observing the fast, Shami has committed a great sin. He is a criminal under Sharia law.”
He added, “Mohammed Shami should never do this. I am guiding and advising him to follow the rules of Islam. Play cricket, do all the work, but also fulfill the responsibilities that Allah has given to a person. Shami should understand all this. Shami should seek forgiveness from Allah for his sins.”
