Kalimela: Petrol prices have skyrocketed in the Kalimela block of Malkangiri district today after two days of unchanged prices. Two days later, the price of regular petrol at the Bharat Petroleum pump in Kalimela was Rs 4.8 per liter and the speed of petrol was Rs 4.93 per liter. Today, the price of petrol has gone up by Rs 39 to Rs 14 per liter (normal) and Rs 100 to Rs 28 per liter (speed) respectively. This is the highest petrol price in Odisha. Similarly, diesel prices have gone up by 37 paise today. At Kalimela today, diesel is priced at Rs 73.4 per liter. Both petrol and diesel prices have been steadily rising since the 9th of this month. However, prices have not changed for two days on the 21st and 22nd. Today, with the rise in prices again, the speed of petrol has crossed the century in the foothills of the state. “If the price goes up tomorrow, the price of petrol will be closer to a century,” he said.
